Frequently asked questions

What size is an Instagram Story?
Stories are 1080 by 1920 pixels, a 9:16 vertical frame. PostDecks previews your image at that full ratio.
What should I keep out of the edges?
Keep text and logos out of the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% at each side. Those are the figures in Meta's ads guide for Stories and Reels, where the profile row and the call-to-action sit. On a 1080 by 1920 image that is about 269 pixels from the top, 672 from the bottom and 65 from each side. An ordinary Story has only the reply bar at the bottom, so the bottom figure is the cautious one. Press Safe zones on the preview to see them over your image.
Is the safe zone the same for Reels?
Yes. Meta's ads guide gives Reels the same figures as Stories: the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% at each side. So the Story preview with Safe zones on is the check for a 9:16 Reel cover too.
